Privacy Policy
Effective date: January 1, 2024 · Last updated: May 17, 2025
LuxuriousComputers is a one-person Mac shop in Marion, Ohio. This policy explains in plain English what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we never do with it. If you have questions, email privacy@luxuriouscomputers.com or call (740) 223-5530.
Information we collect
Purchase and order data: Your name, email address, shipping address, and phone number. We use this to fulfill your order, send tracking information, and contact you if there's an issue with your shipment.
Trade-in submissions: Photos and descriptions of your device, your name, email, and shipping address for return label generation. Condition assessments you provide through the trade-in tool.
Payment data: We do not collect, store, or see your credit card number, CVV, or full card data. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. When you enter payment information on our site, it goes directly to Stripe's servers over an encrypted connection. We receive only a transaction confirmation and the last four digits of your card for your records. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
Account data: If you create an account, we store your email address and order history so you can track purchases and access warranty documentation.
Communications: If you contact us by phone, email, or through the chat on our site, we may retain that conversation to follow up and improve service quality.
Website usage data: Standard web server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URL. We use this to understand how people find and use our site.
How we use your information
Order fulfillment: Shipping your device to the address you provided, generating return labels for warranty claims, and confirming payment with Stripe.
Trade-in processing: Evaluating your device when it arrives, applying store credit to your account, and issuing payment if you selected cash payout.
Warranty service: Verifying your purchase date and device when you submit a warranty claim. Your order history stays on file for the duration of your warranty period.
Optional email updates: If you opt in at checkout, we'll email you about new inventory, sales, and LuxuryCare renewals. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email we send — there is no dark pattern to navigate. One click, done.
Customer support: Referencing past conversations when you contact us so you don't have to repeat yourself.
We do not use your information for automated profiling, behavioral advertising, or any purpose you wouldn't reasonably expect from a local computer shop.
We do not sell your data
The only parties who receive your data are those necessary to complete your order:
Stripe: Processes your payment. Receives your billing information directly. Subject to their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance.
Shipping carriers (FedEx, UPS): Receive your name and delivery address to deliver your package.
Email delivery (Resend): Sends transactional emails (order confirmation, tracking, warranty notices) on our behalf. Does not have access to your order history or payment data.
Legal requirements: We will disclose information if required by a valid court order, subpoena, or other lawful process under Ohio or federal law. We will notify you of such a request to the extent permitted by law.
We are not in the data broker business. We are in the Mac business.
How long we keep your data
Trade-in records are retained for three years.
Email marketing preferences and opt-out records are retained indefinitely so we can honor your unsubscribe request.
Chat and support conversations are retained for two years.
If you request deletion of your data, we will delete everything that is not required for legal or warranty purposes within 30 days of receiving your request. Contact privacy@luxuriouscomputers.com to make a deletion request.
Security
Access to customer data is limited to Rick and the one or two people who work with him in the shop. We don't have a large operations team with broad database access.
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you by email within the timeframe required by Ohio law and describe what data was affected and what steps we are taking.
Your rights
Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information (for example, a wrong shipping address on an old order).
Deletion: Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements described above.
Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. Your transactional emails (order confirmation, shipping updates, warranty notices) cannot be opted out of while a transaction is active.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@luxuriouscomputers.com or call (740) 223-5530 during business hours.
